Remember the comment we either heard from our parents, or overheard at our friends' homes, to wit: "I'm concerned about who you're playing with because, who they are will have influence on you." You remember hearing that once or twice, don't you? I heard it many times while i was growing up.
I intend for you to get: Who would do business with someone whose "Big-Picture of Life" was built on the idea/experience that the Earth is flat? All those "flat-Earthers" are gone now, aren't they? That's not "The Truth" anymore for us as Humanity, is it? Even more useful to notice is that, back then, everyone's thinking did not shift at the same time, did it? For a fair piece of time, many just went about their business --- opting not to uplevel to round-Earth thinking. Some others, uninformed and totally unaware, never even knew they had a choice --- they finished out the remaining years of their lives, having never lived even one moment in the possibility that the Earth might, in fact, actually be round. And then there were also those who were quite certain that this "round Earth"-thing was all a hoax, the theory of some madman, some silly idea . . . .
"If anyone tells you something strange about the world, something you had never heard before, do not laugh but listen attentively; make him repeat it, make him explain it; no doubt there is something there worth taking hold of." < Georges Duhamel, French author and physician
