In ''94, with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, i worked with King Tusk, and his trainer Jimmy Silverlake.  We toured together (with the other 26 show-elephants) for several years.  During Ringling's first venture into Mexico, i was chosen to serve as the "International Operations Coordinator".  As if i didn't have enough to do with that position, i also had to fill in as "Purchasing Agent" and buy the food for the animals because the regular purchasing agent couldn't come to Mexico City. All the elephants would eat any shade of hay that I bought -- except King Tusk.  He preferred a darker green-blend -- that he had "such a discerning palate" still amazes me.
